A lonely raindrop
trembles on a leaf
scared, she refuses to fall to the ground
to continue the natural circle of life
instead, from above, safe
she sees her insignificant existence go by
Sitting on an old oak
a headachy hummingbird
tries to remember the names
of all the flowers he has kissed
as he continues on his promiscuous flight
All the while a roaring river
just flows by
reminding them of the paths of life
written destiny, defiant fate
and you're not that raindrop
and I'm not a hummingbird
there is no river
there is no fate
just your fears
and my broken good-bye.
